Summary of Modern Studies on PsoriasEase (Danpi Xiaoyin) Capsule

Chinese Uses: psoriasis and related symptoms

Modern pharmacodynamic studies reveal that this product yields actions of anti-allergy, inhibiting capillary permeability and anti-inflammation.

  1. Anti-allergy: Gastric perfusion is given to guinea pig at the dose of 8g/kg. It markedly prolongs the latent period of asthmatic reaction to histamine spraying, while a dose of 5.0g/kg perfused to the stomach of guinea pig also markedly prolongs the appearance of allergic symptoms and death of the animal induced by cow serum.
  2. Inhibition of capillary permeability: When this product is perfused to the stomach of mice in a dose 1~4g/kg, the auricular capillary permeability induced by dimethyl benzene can be markedly inhibited.
  3. Anti-inflammation: The claw swelling of mice induced by egg serum can be markedly inhibited by gastric perfusion of this product with a dose of 4g/kg.

Toxicological studies:
Acute toxicity: When mice are perfused gastrically with this product with a dose of 30g/kg, once daily(equivalent to 200 times the amount of clinical dose for an adult). No untoward reactions are found. The half-lethal dose of Xiaoyin Tablet solution injected peritoneally is 8.958±1.432g/kg.
Subacute toxicity: When rats are perfused gastrically with Xiaoyin Tablet solution in dose of 0.75~15g/kg (5~100 times the dosage for a normal adult), once daily for 12wks., the behaviour, skin, urine, stool, liver and kidney functions, blood, urine routine exams art all normal.
Hypersensitive test: This product is injected intramuscularly 0.15g/kg to guinea pig once daily (80% the amount for a normal person), for 3 successive sessions. After 2 weeks, peritoneal injection is further given in the dose of 0.5g/kg, no allergic reactive reveal.

Clinically, this product was applied in psoriasis of blood-heat-wind-dry type and blood-deficiency-wind-dry type.
Psoriasis of blood-heat-wind-dry-type: 239 cases were given this product for 5~7 tablets, tid, with 1~3months constituting a therapeutic course. 117 cases were cured, the cured rate being 48.94%; the total effective rate being 90.36%.
Psoriasis of blood-deficiency-wind-dry type: 99 cases were treated, 41 cases were cured, the cured rate being 41.41%, total effective rate being 76.76%.
