Review of Modern Researches on Shidu Qingjie( SkinEase-1) Capsule

Chinese Uses: weeping pruritus, weeping pompholyx, anabrotic weeping eczema and sensitization dermatitis itching, passive skin allergy, anti-viral, swelling, urticaria, anti-osmosis, anti-bacterial

Modern studies on pharmacologic action prove that Shidu Qingjie (SkinEase-1) Capsule yields the following actions:

• Relieving itching

  • It can obviously relieve itching induced by Dextran in mice.

1.2 It can obviously raise the threshold of itching and pain of Guinea pigs induced by histamine.

2. Anti-hypersensitivity

2.1 It has antagonistic action on non-allergic contact urticaria induced by Dimethyl Sulfoxide in Guinea pigs

2.2 It can obviously inhibit the passive skin allergy in the rats.

2.3 It can stimulate the function of the endothelial system, anti virus, and enhance the activity of the NK cells. It can obviously inhibit the production of LTs, PGF2 in the hepatic tissues which are the metabolic products of arachidonic acid in a dose-dependent manner. It can inhibit the mast cell degranulation to release histamine, serotonin and bradykinin, etc.

3. Swelling relieving

It can relieve swelling of ear of mice induced by croton oil.

4. Anti-osmosis

Local application experiment on mice: It can improve epidermis exudation, inflammation syndromes induced by chemical inflammation by clearing out the follicular orifice, enhancing the cell activity, and promoting cell regeneration of the skin.

5. Antibacterial action

It can inhibit bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, strept, Bacillus coli, and Bacterium dysenteriae, many kinds of eumycetes and infusorian. Its minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) to the Staphylococcus aureus are 6.25mg. And the MIC is 6.25mg and the MBC is 25.0mg to the Monilia albicans.

6. It has anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive action by decreasing celiac capillary permeability of mice, inhibiting haematolysis of the RBC, and stabilizing the cell membrane.

7. Effect on the immune system

It has depressant effect on the immune system of the mice at the dose of 1/5 of LD50 by inhibiting phagocytosis of the macrophage, decreasing the cell number of plaque formation and the geometric mean titer of the antibody. But it has no effect on the content of the lysozyme.

Studies on toxicology

It was orally administrated to mice in the dose of 18.8g/kg (which was 626.6 times of human dose of 0.09g/kg) for 5 days, and the total dose was 56.4g/kg. No toxic reaction and dead mice were observed

Clinically, this product is commonly used to treat various cutaneous diseases caused by stagnation of wind, heat and dampness.

1. 103 cases with weeping pruritus of skin were administrated with this product, 3 capsules per time and 3 times per day, for one month. One or two capsules should be added to the severe cases in the morning and evening, respectively. According to the statistics, the total effective rate was 91.26%, including 22 cases of substantially recovered at the rate of 21.36%, 33 cases of remarkably improved at the rate of 32.04%, 39 cases of improved at the rate of 37.86%, and 9 cases of ineffective at the rate of 8.74%.

2. 127 cases with weeping pompholyx, anabrotic weeping eczema and sensitization dermatitis with concurrent infection were administrated with this product, 3 capsules per time and 3 times per day, for one month or 15 days. Two capsules should be added to the severe cases in the morning and evening, respectively. According to the statistics, the total effective rate was 93.70%, including 43 cases of substantially recovered at the rate of 33.86%, 39 cases of remarkably improved at the rate of 30.71%, 37 cases of improved at the rate of 29.13%, and 8 cases of ineffective at the rate of 6.30%.
