Summary of Research on Guifu Ankun (Ovary & Uterus Clean Ô ) capsules

Chinese Uses: hysteromyoma (fibroid), ovarian cyst and chronic appendagitis .

Modern studies on pharmacologic action prove that Guifu AnKun Capsule yields the following actions:

• Impact on the blood
  • It improves hemodynamics and hemorheology, reduces the stickiness of the blood: whole blood reduction specific viscosity, whole blood specific viscosity, plasma specific viscosity and concentration of fibrinogen went down remarkably and erythrocyte electrophoretic time decreased one and half hour after intravenous injection of 2g/kg or oral administration of 6g/kg to the rabbit.
  • It inhibits platelet aggregation, regulates blood circulation and promotes hemolysis, and inhibits for mation of thrombus at the same time: 50 0kg/ml or 250mg/ml decoction of this product can remarkably inhibit platelet aggregation induced by collagen or ADP.
  • It dilates blood vessels and improve microcirculation.
• Anti-inflammatory action
• Joint swelling of mice induced by egg albumen or formaldegyde can be inhibited by oral administration with 60g/kg or intraperitoneal injection with 10g/kg . It begins to react half an hour later and may last for over 2 hours. Hyperplasia of cotton ball granuloma can be inhibited remarkably by administration continuously for 7 days. This indicates that this product has a remarkable role of inhibition on acute, chronic or autoimmune inflammation, especially on hyperblastosis of granulation and desmoplasia.
• Bacteriostasis and bactericidal action: It inhibits bacillus coli and staphylococci, etc.
• Accommodation on uterus smooth muscle: It has the effect of spasmolysis and promotes involution of uterus.
• Immunomodulation effect: It promotes cellular immune function and inhibits autoimmunity.
• Analgesic effect
  • It increases pain threshold caused physically or chemically: orally administration with 100g/kg or subcutaneous injection with 10g/kg to mice prolongs the pain reaction latency induced by hot plate. The effects lasts more than 4 hours.
  • It increases β - endorphin and decreases prostaglandin E 2 、 E 2a , etc.
• Sedation: It inhibits spontaneous movement of mice with oral administration of 100g/kg, and increases the percent of normal abolition of reflex hypnotized by barbital.
• Accommodation on endocrine
  • It has the analog role of LHRH: TK activity of the uterus induced by prostaglandin E 2 and its wet weight can be decreased by administration with 300mg/kg continuously for 14 days, indicating that this product has the analog role of LHRH.
  • It down regulates the estrogen receptor so as to down regulate hormone effect.
• 9. Anti-tumor: Feed the mice with the compound of hemicellulose B, glucose solution and this product for 90 days. The result showed that it prolongs the life span of mice with subcutaneous cancer induced by methylcholanthrene, and inhibits amyloid degeneration in the spleen completely.

Studies on toxicology

Administrate this product with 250g/kg (corresponding to the maximum capacity of intragastric administration ), twice per day continuously for 7 days. No death or abnormal was found, which showed that its LD by oral administration is well over 250g/kg.

Clinically, this product is commonly used for hysteromyoma (fibroid), ovarian cyst and chronic appendagitis .

• 120 cases with hysteromyoma (fibroid) were administrated with this product, 2 capsules 3 times a day continuously for 2 months. One capsule was added for severe cases in the morning and evening respectively. According to statistics, the total effective rate was 93.33%, including 23 cases basically recovered (19.17%), 89 cases improved (74.17%), and 8 cases ineffective (6.66%).
• 260 cases with ovarian cyst were administrated with this product, 3 capsules 3 times a day continuously for three months. According to statistics, the total effective rate was 93.85%, including 217 cases of basically recovered (83.46%), 27 cases improved (10.38%), and 16 cases ineffective (6.15%).
• 58 cases with chronic appendagitis were administrated with this product, 2 capsules 3 times a day continuously for two months. According to statistics after one or two courses of treatment, the total effective rate was 91.38%, including 27 cases basically recovered (46.55%), 26 cases improved (44.83%), and 5 cases ineffective (8.62%).
